Twenty three Victoria Crosses have been been awarded to 22 New Zealanders.  Twenty two were Imperial awards with one being The newer Victoria Cross For New Zealand.

 

One New Zealander received two Victoria Crosses (in separate actions).  Charles Upham is just one of three members of the military who have been awarded the medal twice.  Once in 1941 and the other in 1942.  The other two soldiers were Arthur Martin-Leake (1902 and 1914) and Noel Godfrey Chavase (1916 and 1917).   See ...............
